When did you join MVH?

May, 1999

Originally from Florida, I earned both my undergraduate B.S. in Zoology and my DVM at the University of Florida. After graduation in 1991, I worked in Florida for a year then came to Austin for a “visit.” My visit is in its third decade now. Initially, I did relief work for a number of practices in the Austin area then opened Manor Veterinary Hospital in 1999. I enjoy both soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

I love my “job.” Whether meeting a new puppy or kitten for the first time, discussing options with a pet’s family that will help keep that pet feeling her best as she ages, or reviewing hospice care that will ease the physical pain of my patient and, hopefully, the emotional pain of her humans, I find great fulfillment in my work.

It is very important to me that my patients are treated with gentleness and empathy. I want each pet to be handled as I would my own. Whether it means lots of treats, moving slowly through the examination, the calming pheromones we have in diffusers, or just lots of petting and chin scratching, we strive to be as low stress as possible for each of our patients.

When not working or catering to my cats (Rosie, Ruby, Johnny, and Charlie) and dogs (Timmy and Sally) at home, or feline hospital managers (Sabrina, Katie, and Georgie), I enjoy birding, kayaking, reading, taking in some live music, or visiting my sister and brother-in-law, as well as numerous cousins in Florida.
